Escalator Story

Today I was at work and outside my store is an escalator that leads down to Pitt Street mall. Anyways, this old lady in a wheelchair goes up to the escalator (someone was pushing her) and she decides she wants to go down the escalator, so she gets out of the chair and gets on.
As she descends she loses her balance (oh yeah, she's meant to be in a wheelchair!) and falls and tumbles all the way to the bottom.
The girl I was working with heard a godawful child's scream as Wheelchair Lady collects a kid on her way down. About thirty people started gathering around the escalator in horrified fascination, whilst someone helped move Wheelchair Lady and the kid aside from the floor at the bottom. I don't know if they were alright or not. The woman holding the wheelchair just continued standing at the top of the escalator for about five minutes, dumbfounded.
MORAL OF THE STORY: USE THE GODDAMN ELEVATOR. IT WAS ONLY TEN METRES AWAY.
