An open letter to John Howard
March 8th 2007 09:28
Dear Prime Minister Howard
I am writing to you in the hopes of healing a divide within our borders. Obviously, this is a very big job for someone like me. I have no political qualifications and very little ambition in such an area. That’s why I have written to you, I think you would be the best candidate for this. No, this is not about Aboriginals or the War on Terror or anything like that.
I wish to see a reconciliation between our country and the Hutt River Province. I feel my government’s refusal to acknowledge this independent state has gone on long enough and that it is time to bury the hatchet. I am aware that the Hutt River Province does not pay tax and is pretty much exempt from any kind of prosecution by Australian Law so surely this is admission in itself that the Australian government recognises the Hutt River Province in one way or another? I think it is time to legitimise this and greet the Hutt River Province as a neighbouring nation and for a public meeting between yourself and HRH Prince Leonard to take place in the eyes of both countries. Prince Leonard is loyal to the Queen, and I hear that you are quite fond of her too, so we should be allies not enemies!
Please let me know what problems there could possibly be in such a reconciliation and I will gladly think on each particular problem and how me might solve them together. I think we should at least work towards a peaceful meeting between the two nations.
Yours sincerely, Luke Bartolo.
[i]I actually sent this letter to John Howard's private office. It was quite some time ago and he is yet to reply. I doubt he ever will - the cultural ignorance of our government continues!

To that end I don't see the justification for income tax, other taxes maybe, but income tax is absurd, it's actually classified as a form of slavery in some lines of thought. So technically I'm living as a slave here.
So good job to them, let them make their great income tax-free nation.
Good job to them, hora! hora!

For gods sake this is some guy who doesn't want to pay taxes. Those taxes at least go some way to helping the orignal settlers(i.e. The indigenous people).
What does his tin pot country do to help or reconcile with indigenous people.
